;D
Made it back to my home town of Prosser the week of Halloween. Unfortunatley it was for my Grandpa's funeral . I have been working my new lab for quite a while now, and I decided it was time to go hunting. About 30 seconds in to the hunt (walking the tracks) He flushes his 1st covey of quail. Wating for a clean shot I take one an dump it in a short grass field, Spark was right on top of that bird. After a few sniffs and mouth full of feathers back he came with a gental hold on that delicate quail. Thanks to canvas dummys! I watched where that covey flew off to and tried to get Spark to work the bush I knew the quail were in, but he would not get off point from one small bush! I gave the command and out flys a Rooster! Strait into the wind it flys, and 3 shots later down it goes. That really got Spark and me excited. Later on shot a couple more quail. It took me 6 years to get my old lab "BO" to point, he learned from a German Shorty. Spark my 2 year old lab is a natural pointing lab. I noticed this when he would chase after the cat or birds\ squirrels in the yard. He does the leg up and tail strait thing! I was impressed on how well this dog did on his 1st hunting trip ever. I got him late, but started whistle training him and work with him every day and it pays off big time. He was a Rescued lab that had the begginings of obediance\ retreiving and he just needed some work. BTW he is the fastest lab you have ever seen.. if you don't believe me lets do a dummy launch ... looser buys beers! ;D I am working on the pics!
