Bonniville sturgeon report at the Fishery 8/29. 5 client wanted to fish Sturgeon today . 1 keeper landed , 1 lost, 1 oversize landed, 1 lost, 100+ shakers landed, about the same lost. we used almost 400 smelt today. Real slow up there for keepers, couldn't keep the shakers off. I was constantly rebating a rod all day. We got the only fish the fish checker checked today, the fishery said no one has got a keeper in 4 days. About 20 boats fishing sturgeon, I didn't see much action on them. Lots of squaw fish eating the baits. Get some small hooks and chunk the smelt and get some of those dang squaw fish out of the river. My advise is, don't fish sturgeon at the fishery. There are plenty of Salmon going over now, go get them.

Dan, How was the wind up there? Was it almost blowing you off the river or was it pretty good?

Wind wasn't to bad that day. It seems the fish are always in then the wind is blowing thought doesn't it. You can limit the boat in an hour in January is you can brave the wind. August and September are some nice days but tuff fishing up there for sturgeon.
