Keep a notebook of what time of day you caught fish( or got a reliable report) and compare them to the tides on the water you are fishing.
Even the coastal rivers are timed on tides. Just because the tide change does not affect current does not mean it does not affect fish travel.There is a given time it takes the fish to travel from point a to where you are fishing. the big incoming tides will push fish up. How long it takes them to get up to your favorite hole is up to you to figure out.
This is also why every 2 weeks or so( big tide series) we get reports of a big pod of fish moving thru. Even if you do not get to fish it, if you can place your bets on the odds on days, your catch rates will skyrocket.
