I don't know how many people read this forum but I have a question that I hope some of you can help me answer.
I currently have a '97 8 horse Honda kicker on my sled, it runs great. I run it straight off of my main fuel tank, since my big motor is oil injected and the Honda is a 4-stroke. So overall it is really simple no mixing of fuel or extra tank to have taking up space.
For trolling the motor is great but sometimes in the river when back bouncing it takes forever to get back to the top of the hole. In some of the holes I just start up my big motor. Also when I'm in tidewater and running against the tide, like when getting to another spot not trolling, I sometimes start up my big motor because the little 8 horse is too slow, I'm talking about in the no wake zones I can go a lot faster with my big motor and still not make a large wake.
So after all that, I have a friend that wants to trade straight across for his 2000 15 horse Mercury. His motor has very little use on it, he just wants a smaller 4-stroke for his drift boat.
Overall I want more power. Should I trade or not? All comments and suggestions would be appreciated?

Sounds like you need it. Sounds like he's got the better motor. Make like Bonzi Wells and TRADE! ;D

My gut feeling is trade also but I just don't want to regret the hassle of mixing fuel and the extra fuel tank.
Also I don' t think weight will be a factor either an 8 horse 4-stroke and a 15 horse 2-stroke probably aren't that big in difference.
And I know both motors are in great shape. My buddies only has 20 hours maximum. He just doesn't fish much.
Thanks for the comments and if anyone else thinks it's a bad idea, please elaborate why.
UpriverBright- Let's go fishing sometime. If forecasts are correct it might not be until sometime mid-week of next week for the coast. Anyway I'll talk to ya' later.
