Looking at buying a new kicker for my boat. Wanted to know what everyone thought of them. I know you have one Dan, how do you like it? Anyone else with a good or bad opinion of them?

The power tilt and electric start are awesome. The motor runs great. Never a problem. If I was go get a different boat this is the motor I would get again. There is a reason that you will see this kicker on most of the guide boats in the area. I dont know of any problems with this motor. You may want to check the first thread in this area and look on that board. Lots of boat and motor talk there.

I have one. Power tilt is cool. Electric start is mandatory.
Needle jet is a loser( Merc and Yamaha had a lot of this slip thru recently). It sticks, and ya need to smack the side of the carb with a screwdriver to float everything back to where it should be. Not major, but annoying on a brand new machine. Especially so when you know that they had problems for 2 years with them. They will fix it under warranty. But they are way too famaliar with the problem. Too bad the consumer was left to deal with their poor business decisions.
I heard the 2004s have fixed the needle jet problem. Time will tell.
If I had to do it again( and I am not a guide. So I will most likely keep this boat for many years. Many guides update every 4 years. Some get a new one every year), I would get a 10 or 15 4 stroke and add the tilt, bay kit, and elec start to it.
I am not real fond of the big foot concept. But I bought mine because a 15 with the same features as the T-8 is about 1200-1400 bucks more.
When I replace this motor, I will not buy another big foot.
Now there is nothing terribly wrong with the T-8. And I have fairly specific reasons for not liking it. But most of that has to do with how and where I fish. So I can't say really bad things about it.
Good Luck.
Mark and the tiller handle dog.

Thanks for the input guys, I pick mine up today. Understand the break-in period is a little time consuming so if you see a 17' open motoring on the Columbia w/ it's kicker give me a wave.

I just got one a couple weeks ago and it seems to work great but I am still working on breaking it in.Im using it on a 16' Arima. The only thing I dont care much for is the weight of it.
