Okay, for the first time in my 36 yrs, I finally feel as if my childhood is over. I don't know how many of you remember the "Captian Kangaroo" show. But, our beloved Captian passed away this morning. What a childhood, between him and Mister Rogers, nothing today could compare. I wish my kids could have seen these shows. They were made for children and nothing will ever hold a candle to them. So, I would just like to say "Goodbye and so long".

Anybody remember Ramblin' Rod? That's gotta be the creeepiest name for a kid's cartoon show host, but man, that was a great show! Is he still alive? I'm sorry to hear about Captain Kangaroo, I grew up watching him and Mr. Rogers and, still the best show EVER, "CHiPs"!!!

www.wweek.com/flatfiles/allstories.lasso?xxin=2789A link to the sad news of May 2002. My first memories of TV were the visit to next door neighbors to view Mr. Moon. Guess that dates me a bit further back with JustDave.... Guess there are a few old folks here.

Okay, as I was reading today on KGW, that he played Clarabell the Clown on the Howdy Doody show. Now that is old, even before my time. As for Ramblin Rod, only moved to Oregon and a few years later, he was off of the air. Others, sorry, must have been a NW thing. Never heard of them. Dan does remember Rusty Nails. What ever happened to these people, and why can't they make childrens TV like they used to?

no no no...todays stuff is nothing but puckiemon and other c*** like that. I hate waking up in the morning listing to my little bro and sis listing to that stuff. All you hear coming from the TV is yelling. And they blame it all on the guns

In a fast paced world of sensory overload, todays children, have a higher expectation for animation, special effects, and semi-adult oriented material.
As a kid, I loved Ramblin Rod, Mr. Rogers, Zoom, Sesame Street, Electric Company, Capt. Kangaroo, and many others.
But let's face it, unless these guys wanna introduce for shows such as Ed, Edd & Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Yu-Gi-Oh, and some of the others....
Todays kid is gonna pass by that channel without even a pause.
(35 with 5 kids).

Schoonergirl, 36!! When I was 36 you were 9 years old. 36 ain't old. I don't feel I'm getting any older since I hit 50 and that was 13 years ago. You're just getting to the good years. ;D ;D
Although it is kind of strange being married to an "older" woman.
