it is still fun to get a bunch of shakers...its better than just sittin there for mayb one keeper. i think the shakers a fun at first but it seems like after you get them under controll they just become dead weight and dont fight much why is that? tite lines Chris

Shakers become dead weight because they know they have been had! Think about it... 6\0 hook with 80lb tuff line...and a reel that can crank down a the front of a house... I went back out Saturday... the columbia was windy.. with ocean like swells an chop! Pulled in the willamette for a while caught a couple of shakers, the wind died and I zoomed back into the CR. Bite happend about sunset for shakers once again! I know of 1 keeper and 1 oversized hooked in Mult channel

Go up around government island and that's a place were you can have fun with the shakers. I'll take one of my trout rods up there, 6 pound mono, 1 1/2 lead and a small trout hook, and a little bit of eggs. Drop that down there and have some fun. The biggest one I got was 36 inch's doing that. What a fight. Best time to do it is when everyone around you is summer steelhead fishing. That really gets some heads turning when your rod is doubled over peeling line out. ;D

I thought I better post so the head man on here does not boot me off. I have been out 3 or 4 time below 205 and caught a lot of shakers, I have also put 2 in th box. One of the days I was fishing a hole that I don't fish much and a boat pulled in below us to fish. A while later when they had seen us catch a few they upped anchor and came to talk with us. I told them to go up river to a hole I like to fish , I told them right where to anchor. They did what I said and only stayed for a 1/2 hr . We went there when they left and landed 20 fish in a hour all in the high thirtys, one went 44 so it went home . Smelt, no sent was the go to. Fishalot
