With so many boats on the rivers these days the "fish racers" are getting more aggrivating in my opinion. More and more driftboat and sled captains pick up when you come around a corner so they can scoot down to beat you to the next hole! Where's just plain courteous consideration gone? If you are a hard core fish racer pig that has to have first shot at most of the holes let me tell you what is going to happen more often to you. Guys are going to start rowing until they get to a good hole before you, even if they have to push you all the way to the boat ramp! Let's all start doing that to guys that keep picking up the anchor the second they see another boat come around the corner upriver from them. Push them all the way to the boat ramp and have your trailer there already and go back up and re run the section ahead of the boat racers. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Who cares if they want to have first shot at the water. I dont really care . If I get it great, if I dont then thats OK too. I am confident enough in my abilities that I know I will catch fish behind anyone. If someone wants to and thinks they need that advantage more power to them. Why is this a big deal for you..........sounds like you want that first shot and are po'd that someone got there first. This isn't a slam at all, just an observation. John

I hate those river racers too. When I look upstream and see one of them coming I pick up anchor and get down to the next good hole before they do. ;D

WRO how can you say that? I recall you complaining about me trying to get a fish in my "net" ;D. Four leaf clover, I don't know about that. Good entertainment is probably more along the lines I was thinking of ;D. Like the time you.......

Boat racers provide great entertainment! I love it when the try to stay ahead all day and dont fish much. I encountered one on Wed. He tried to stay out in front of me. He succeeded. I think he was a little PO'ed when we just floated on past the the take out.....
I dont worry about getting first water. In fact I usually dont launch my boat until after 8:30. Last time out we didnt get on the water until almost 9:00. We didnt get into to fish until after noon. We got into a bunch of fish behind a bunch of other boats, One of the boats was a highly skilled guide.....
Just go fish and enjoy yourself. Dont worry about those morons that have to have first water all day.

You guys may have it better than you think? You should spend a day drift boating the Wynooche river on the south side of the Oly Pen! Its a medium size river that gets a lot of fish, but its just too dam small for jet sleds to be running up high on that system! But they do and zing right through anchored drift boats in its relatively narrow areas. Its become a war between those 2 user groups up there! Big runs of fish and no laws to keep sleds out of insane places for them to be is at the cause. Why can't they just go to the bigger rivers like the Cowlitz and many others? As far as drift boat racing there the only race is to get to the next hole full of sled jockies.

Like the time I what? ;D Nevermind. I am soo glad we don't have sleds on any of our small coastal rivers. That would be a nightmare, because in the right water conditions you could run the guideshop in a sled.
