Like a lot of you, I used to play occasional poker night get togethers with the guys. Fun. Ladies play too sometimes. But I hadn't done so in a number of years. Well ... ... the really fun game of Texas Hold Em (the game played by pro poker players on ESPN tv) has really become a trendy fad across the country. There was a small piece about it in the Oregonian recently - including about the OSU Beaver player's poker groups gettin after it prior to their bowl game in Vegas. Cool. (YAY Beavs, btw). Anyway, these poker get togethers have become the rage among my son's high school friends. Guess it's become really popular at most colleges too. They play anywhere from 3 to 8 guys per table, and he and his friends have had poker tournaments with 30+ guys showing up. The table winners move on up to the "big" table. Yes, they do play for dough, but keep it reasonable. I prefer the small one table get togethers over the big tournaments though. They've let me sit in a few times when it's held at our house, and I'm suddenly hooked on that super fun game - Texas Hold Em, along with a few other poker games mixed in. It might be fun for some of us who've gotten to know each other a little over in the Salmon/Steelhead board to have some poker nights? Kept to low betting parameters of course. Just food for thought. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Betcha Bob-n-Jig is game ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) ...though he's addicted to "Let It Ride". I myself like the poker machines, I can't feel stupid if I mess up playing alone. ;D Just don't let him put me in the poor house! ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) Sounds like fun! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Love the game! One of my christmas presents was a poker table that fits over the top of a card table w/ chip and drink holders built in. Very cool! If anyone wants one, they're at linnens n' things by the old home depot in clackamas.

RT I love to play this game called poker. My wife hates it until I come home with some money left over.
If you get a game together please let me know. I would love to join in and play some with ya.

Cooool! MM likes the idea too. That's 5 of us so far? MM, RT, wire', Gas'J, and Bob'jig. I bet there's plenty more out there too - including Bob'jig's 'Wild*Hen'? Right Shelly? You'd fit right in! And have a real hoot. Gas'd has the actual poker table - but if your wife is like mine, she'd tell me to take it to a pub to meet the guys. She wants no part of a poker crew in her house (except the innocent looking little high school boys ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ). These poker sessions really are a 'gas' too (excuse the pun G'Jockey ;D ). Keeping the betting amounts relatively small is the best way to go, in my opinion. Just enough to make it more interesting, but not so much that tention enters the picture. Fun!!! I think we could get Dan and Sandy to join in too? In any case, if a game materializes somewhere, I'm in.

ALRIGHT DAN!!! Good man. I'm fairly flexible time wise. Get some more feedback about days/times availability and we can put one on. If we use your tables, we can bring snacks and beverages - or whatever. Cool!

Can I play too? I don't know much about poker, played video poker twice before, and watch that Las Vegas show on TV sometimes, but it sounds like fun. ;D ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
