Just converted from that other board, I was just talking about getting together with some guys for a poker night. I would like to join in if possible. How many dollars worth of chips would need to get for this poker game? While you guys figure that one out I will be going out fishing on the Wilson I'll let you know how it is.

Hey, no probs - I have a perfect idea. You cute ladies can dress up in Vegas style waitress garb and serve us 'hard workin' poker players. The idea is to see if you can serve up enough tequilla to guys other than your men to help them bring home a pile of dough. ;D [Ya right RT - we got your short waitress skirts right here! ] ... Whoa. I heard that all the way over here. Hey, it was just an innocent thought. It's all good - gonna be a blast one way or the other. Edit: Kodiak, I'd say keeping it to about a $20 dollar poker chip buy in would be cool. Putting a reasonable lid on 'per bet' amounts keeps it fun, yet pots can still get interesting. Open for suggestions with those things. Dan, I'm chompin at the bit for a fun poker party. Since you so kindly offered up your table or two, what's the prospect dates? We'll have another one sometime at another member's house. Cooooool!!!

I am sure Fridays and Saturday nights are best for most. Starting at 7:00 is best for me as it gives me time to get back from fishing and cleanup.
I can do
Friday Jan 9th at 7:00 (this is the night before the sandy chapter of northwest stellheaders, frostbite follies.)
Saturday Jan 9th at 7:00
Friday Jan 16th at 7:00 (this is the night before the QFA trip.)
Saturday Jan 17th at 7:00
We can make it the second Friday of the month every month. I dont know, what do you guys think.

Friday or Saturday nights of Jan.9th or 10th are good with me. I'm thinking those would be better than on the same weekend as the QFA fishing get together?

Dan, I just noticed you mentioned having poker parties once a month. If we got enough guys and places to have them, that would be cool. Add a little background music, popcorn, and small amounts of beer or pop (bring your own) ... all the better.
They really are a blast. I spent 4 hours at one last night just to finally wind up plus $8. Usually down about that much.

Saturday Jan 9th is my vote...but I can be flexible. Excited to meet some of the other folks. If Zaq puts is carrotmilk recipe on the table I fold!! The vegas style waitress outfits sound distracting but... I'll run it by my wife. Knowing my luck she will end up distracting me

Ok, Friday, January 9th, 7:00 p.m my house. I am in fairview off I-84 near chinook boat ramp. Check it out on mapquest.com21970 n.e Fairview Lake Way fairview Oregon 97024 503-491-9793 From portland I-84 east. Take the 207th street exit. turn left on 207th, cross over the hwy and go to the stop light. The stop light is Sandy blvd, (Texaco food mart)Turn right on sandy blvd. Follow sandy blvd tell you get to the 4 way stop sign ( boat junk yard). Turn left at the 4 way stop sign. Go down the hill and under the train trestle, Fairview Lake way is the first street on the left "AFTER" the train trestle. I am about the 3rd house on the left. I will park my truck in the street. It has Quality Fishing Adventures written all over it. I will have the cards and some poker chips. But we may need a few more chips. Any one want to bring some? We can have it a $20.00 buy in. 3rd place wins $20.00 2nd place wins $30.00 1st place wins the rest of the pot. You place is calculated by being the last ones with chips. Bring your own stuff to drink as I will not provide any suds. Also bring a bag of chips or something to pitch in for the munchies. Any thing else?

Hey thanks for hosting Dan! It'll be a lot of fun. We can always use extra chips and cards - especially in case a lot of guys show up and we need to play a couple tables. As for how to split winnings ... your idea is fine, but allow me to suggest something to consider also. Most have a buy in ($20), and the money goes into a bank container (shoe box or whatever) and the buyer gets $20 worth of chips. At the designated stopping time guys just cash in the amount of chips they have for that amount of money - IF they have any left. If there is enough $1 bills, it always comes out right, and more guys get to take home some dough than just 3 guys, and not as many lose their entire $20 bill. It also more closely awards individual play properly (you know - the 4th place guy that would get nothing could of had just 1 less chip than the 3rd place guy). Also makes it easier for guys to get kitchen passes for future games. Just my 0.02 thoughts.
